California's central coast is not as well traveled and is remote in comparison to the more popular destinations of Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.

For many – especially in the summer months – it's the beginning or end of a drive up the spectacular US Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway, along the California coast. The Hearst Castle and Big Sur are two of the most visited destinations.
