Wild Times at Willie-T's!
For those looking to party in the British Virgin Islands, your ship has come in. And it's not going anywhere, because it's anchored in the bay. The William Thornton – more popularly known as Willy-T's, is the kind of wild bar one might expect to find in Mykonos, Vegas or somewhere on Spring Break. Not on an old pirate ship in the middle of the BVIs. But that's Willie-T's on Norman Island (and of the fantasy Treasure Island from the Children's books), a decidedly adult destination. It's not big, but it's bold. At the stern is the bar and the book of pictures tells the story – bare-breasted women showing off for the frisky long-time bartenders, who reward ladies with temporary tattoos (and sometimes body shots). Girls are laid down on the bar and given the once-over by the bartender, finding just that right place for a tattoo. This happens at a Caribbean pace, of course. Soon afterward, they treat the railing supports like stripper poles, dancing around in their bikinis.
The guys – along with many gals – also like to strip off their swimsuits, head up to the top of the boat and jump nude off the back. There's no ladder on the dingy dock and the more mellow people having lunch or dinner are entertained as naked people climb back to the boat. The party reaches its peak in the late afternoon. The parting here is so heavy that the original Willy T boat actually sank in 1995 (it's now at a dive site off Peter Island).
