Even in Fog, When Surf's Up So Are Surfers

Just north of 45th Street, this surfer gets a good ride on a crappy day.

Golfers like to say it never rains on a golf course.

Surfers, it seems, feel the same way about fog. Despite overcast conditions that have hidden the sunshine from the South Bay much of the summer of 2010, when the surf's up so to, are the surfers.

These shots were taken on a late September morning in El Porto. Some 50 surfers were in the water from north of 45th Street to past 42nd Street. There was a very good right break, which most people were looking to ride.
