LA's State Beach Turns Golden When the Sun Goes Down

Surfers end their session in El Porto as the sun says goodbye to the day.

Sometimes, Manhattan Beach, CA, shines its best when the sun isn't shining. That's when it's day is done and its sinking into the Pacific, providing spectacular views up and down the Strand, at the Pier and framed by its many palm trees.

This dramatic cloud colors and formation occurred just after sunset.

North Manhattan, or El Porto, shines as the sun goes down.

They are eye-catching and often spectacular, especially when the high desert Santa Ana winds blow the smog out of Los Angeles and over the Pacific Ocean, creating a Crayon box of colors – blue, yellow and orange.
